RUSTINS PLY SAT VAR 1L TEAK
TEAK
Product Polyurethane Coloured Varnish
Type
A high build, air-drying coloured polyurethane varnish. The finish produced is tough, durable and
resistant to oil, water and many chemicals.
Intended Use
Bare wood, hardboard, MDF and unsealed cork. Interior use only. For floors, use Rustins
Polyurethane Floor Sealer.
Special Features
Stains and varnishes in one. High abrasion and mechanical impact resistance.
Colours available: Mahogany, Oak, Dark Oak, Pine, Teak, Walnut & Antique Pine.
Preparation
The surface must be clean, smooth, sound, dry and free from wax, dust and contaminants.
Remove wax by rubbing with White Spirit and a plastic souring pad and wipe away whilst still
wet. Cracks may be filled with Rustins Wood filler.
Application
Apply evenly, finishing in the direction of the grain using a good quality brush. The first coat may
be thinned with White Spirit (1 part to 8 parts varnish), to act as a sealer when applying to
absorbent surfaces. The colour will darken with additional coats.
Coats 2 coats are usually sufficient on wood. Cork and more absorbent surfaces will require extra coats.
Drying Time Touch dry in approximately 2-4 hours, depending on the temperature and humidity.
Re-coating Time
Re-coat when the previous coat is hard dry, typically within 4-8 hours depending on the
temperature and humidity.
Application Temp. Ideally 15-25°C. Do not use below 10°C or in conditions of high humidity.
Coverage 14-16 sq.m per litre, 1 coat, depending on the absorbency of the surface.
Maintenance
The varnish will take about 24 hours to dry fully. Afterwards, the surface may be cleaned by
wiping with a mild detergent solution when necessary. To restore gloss, wax polish may be
applied. Worn areas may be re-coated once cleaned, de-waxed and lightly sanded to provide
a key.
Compatibility
The varnish may be used over the following Rustins products; Rustins Wood filler, Grain filler
and Rustins Polyurethane Varnish. The colour will darken with additional coats. A lighter
shade can be obtained by diluting with White Spirit. Rustins Polyurethane Clear Varnish may
be applied over Varnish Stain without altering the colour.
Settlement STIR WELL BEFORE USE. Satin and Matt finishes may dry glossy if not thoroughly stirred.
Shelf-life/Storage Many years if stored in original, tightly closed container in cool, dry conditions.
